Finance

Barclays Capital Finance is made up of talented professionals who understand in detail how the firm works. Whether it’s reporting our financial performance, managing our control environment or partnering the business to facilitate new products, people in Finance help to run one of the world’s largest investment banks. Our goal is to be the best-in-class finance function, contributing to the success of Barclays Capital by providing independent control and trusted advice.

Our Finance professionals are organised into five core functions:

  • Product Control is responsible for understanding, substantiating and controlling the daily trading balance sheet and income statement. Product Control partners other business areas to facilitate new products and is vital to our independent reporting and control infrastructure.
  • Financial Control ensures we fulfil our financial reporting requirements, including monthly, quarterly and annual statutory accounts, regulatory compliance, capital adequacy, large exposure and statistical reporting. Financial Control interfaces with auditors and regulators, and provides accounting and regulatory advice across the firm.
  • Tax manages our tax position, and provides tax support and advice across the firm.
  • Financial Decision Support enables all financial decisions within the firm by providing quality data to, and partnership with, strategic decision-makers. This covers revenues, costs, balance sheet/capital and client franchise performance.
  • Chief Operating Office supports the strategy and business administration of the Finance department.

Whichever Finance team you work in, you will be given the opportunity to build a thorough understanding of our business, the financial markets, regulatory requirements and accounting standards. Finance is an ideal place for problem solvers with an analytical mind who have a passion to learn and a proactive approach, and who work well under pressure within a team-orientated environment.

As a Finance Analyst, your career at Barclays Capital will begin with a development programme, which will include both firm-wide and division-specific training. This will provide you with the business knowledge and professional development to help you meet the requirements of your role and build an understanding of the Finance department. If you join the programme in either EMEA or Asia, you will also complete the CIMA professional qualification.
