Your graduate programme will be tailored to the particular division you join. Some have a rotational programme, while in other areas you will specialise from day one. In addition to the structured training programme you'll gain much of your knowledge on the job, getting stuck into a real role from day one.
We hire directly into specific teams ("desks") in the following divisions:
Each programme begins with approximately eight weeks of classroom-based training. This consists of an introduction to the firm and its resources, and intensive technical training in accounting, finance, modelling and valuation, plus briefings on specific financial products. You'll also build on your communication, quantitative and analytical skills and participate in a number of team building and networking events.
With training completed, you'll join a specific team. There, you'll quickly become a critical member, working in a fast-paced environment where the ability to think on your feet is highly valued.
Infrastructure is the term for those divisions behind every deal which ensure that we can operate efficiently and add competitive advantage.
You'll start with a five-week training programme aimed at equipping you with the skills needed to hit the ground running. Designed with the assistance of senior business managers and professional trainers, it will provide you with an overview of the firm, its business and products. The content will be relevant to your overall development and will help you to understand how your business area supports the firm as a whole.
Following initial training, each division has a programme tailored to the needs of that business area:
Graduates complete three rotations, lasting one year each, in Financial Control, Financial Decision Support and Product Control. You'll also study for the CIMA qualification.
You'll complete two rotations, each lasting nine months. The aim is to build product/function knowledge, give you exposure to real roles and expand your understanding of the Operations department. Along the way, you'll complete the Investment Operations Certificate (IOC).
Here, graduates undertake three rotations, each six months long. The programme consists of two streams, Application Development and IT Production/Application Management. The aim is to build product/function knowledge, give you exposure to real roles and expand your understanding of the Technology department.
The HR programme consists of three six-month rotations. You'll gain exposure to Client Relationship Teams aligned to different areas of the business, as well as Centres of Excellence specialising in areas such as Employee Relations or Learning & Development. You'll also have the opportunity to study for the CIPD qualification.
You'll undertake two rotations, each 12 months long, and also complete the Diploma in Investment Compliance (DIC) as part of this programme.
Here, you will take on a specific role within Brand & Advertising, Internal Communications, Government or Media Relations.
Within the Marketing department you will be given a specific role from day one and will be trained in events and conference planning.
